Frog species with rough skin texture due to wart-like parotoid glands tend to be called toads, but the distinction between frogs and toads is informal and purely cosmetic, and does not reflect taxonomy or evolutionary history.
Frogs are widely distributed, ranging from the tropics to subarctic regions,
but the greatest concentration of species diversity is in tropical rainforest and associated wetlands.
They account for around 88% of extant amphibian species, and are one of the five most diverse vertebrate orders.
The oldest fossil "proto-frog" Triadobatrachus is known from the Early Triassic of Madagascar (250 million years ago),
but molecular clock dating suggests their divergence from other amphibians may extend further back to the Permian, 265 million years ago.
But enough rhetoric. I will now be showing you random pictures of frogs off the internet and lying about them.
(The photos are hyperlinks to the sites I'm finding these, so if you actually want to learn more you're able to!)
The American Toad is a wanted war criminal across the globe.
Why? He put a red cross up on his non-red cross affiliated hospital.
He has since made several apologies for this
but no one will forgive him because of his first degree murder charges.
The itty bitty teensy weensy baby boy, or greenhouse frog, likes mangoes.
They're his favorite food to eat as he is a vegetarian frog.

Greenie doesn't care. He likes his bug friends.
The Spring Peeper was caught fleeing to an unidentified flying object this last month.

leading many to question why the government detained such a dangerous creature.
The American Bullfrog is the master of sound.
His volume of his croak has been recorded at a record 4000dB.

Fowler's toad was the perfect agent;

Maybe that should've been an indication that something was wrong.
Four years into his career he snapped, decided he'd seen enough death.
So he set out to end the institutions that built him.
it was in the same building he'd first found hope that he died.
Killed by a friend.
Kermit knows that there's a time in all of our lives where we have to move on.
Where suddenly everything we knew is pulled out from under us.
So let his word ring true:
Life's like a movie. Write your own ending.
Keep believing. Keep pretending.
And who knows,
maybe you'll find you've done what you set out to do.
As our time together comes to an end I bestow upon you the wisdom of Eric Berne:
We are born princes and the civilizing process makes us frogs.
So stay true to who you are,
even though it's not easy being green,
and embrace the frog within.
